I started the new year with trail sisters I hadn’t spent time with in way too long. We hugged, laughed, and chatted like no time had passed. We also touched on our challenges over the last year because that’s also life. We talked about it all.
As if marking the new year with these lovely women wasn’t enough, I was also proud to participate in the @stillirun virtual 5k to raise awareness and support for mental health and wellness initiatives.
Personally, I know that running, hiking, and being in community and nature do wonders for my mind, spirit, and body, but that’s not the end of my wellness plan. Seeing a therapist, finding a doctor, asking for support – none of it should feel out of reach or embarrassing to anyone who needs it, and Still I Run is working to remove those barriers to access.
Enjoying trail time in a gorgeous mountain setting, reconnecting with friends, all while supporting such an important cause made for an excellent start to my day, and I’m sure it bodes well for a good year ahead. happy new year, friends.
